How to choose between NiZn and MnZn ferrites: Frequency is key.

Engineers often struggle to choose between nickel-zinc and manganese-zinc ferrites. Simply put: manganese-zinc ferrite has high initial permeability (hundreds to tens of thousands of μi), making it ideal for low-frequency power and filtering below 1 MHz; nickel-zinc ferrite offers high resistivity, suitable for 30MHz-1GHz high-frequency suppression.
In EMC remediation, nickel-zinc ferrite beads are commonly used to suppress high-frequency radiated emissions by clamping wires, while manganese-zinc cores are typically employed for switch-mode power supply transformers and low-frequency common-mode chokes.
In real-world projects, interference bands are often wide. Use a nickel-zinc + manganese-zinc combination or a nanocrystalline broadband solution. Hangyu Magnetic & Electric provides impedance curve data to help customers select the right components precisely.
